Vaccines

Are you protected against shingles?

Rios Pharmacy Vaccine Clinic has been protecting patients against shingles since 2007, one of the first pharmacy locations in the state. Receiving the shingles vaccine can help reduce your chance of developing shingles. Zostavax, the shingles vaccine, is approved for use in individuals 50 years of age and older.

Shingles can be a painful, blistering rash.

Shingles is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox. Once you have had chickenpox, the virus stays in your body and can resurface as Shingles. The Shingles rash usually lasts up to 30 days, and for most the pain lessens as the rash heals. But some people who develop Shingles experience long-term nerve pain that can last for months, even years.

ZOSTAVAX is a vaccine that can help prevent Shingles in adults 50 years of age or older.

ZOSTAVAX is given as a single shot. ZOSTAVAX cannot be used to treat Shingles, or the nerve pain that may follow Shingles, once you have it.

If you are interested in receiving the shingles vaccine, please contact the pharmacy or email us at riospharmacy@gmail.com to get further information. More information can also be found at www.zostavax.com.
